A ‘hit’ is a statistical measurement of websites. Slightly misleading and misused in website statistics. One hit on a website refers to the browser requesting a single file. If a web page that had 4 images on was requested, this would result in 5 hits – 1 for the page itself and 4 for the images. When looking at web statistics, page view is a better metric to use.
