Lighthouse, the Google tool used to test website performance, has had an upgrade and now includes a category for AI (Agentic Browsing)
It’s an experimental feature, and looks like it has three tests:
- A well-formed accessibility tree helps AI agents to navigate and interact with the page
- Cumulative Layout Shift
- There is a llms.txt file and it follows recommendations
LLMS.txt has been around for over a year as a proposed standard and no formal adoption by AI crawlers. This is the first sign that it could be used more widely by AI crawlers.
