    • The first is the Firebug addin for Firefox. It allows you to see visually how your CSS layout works. Allowing you to browse the structure of the page or you can `inspect` an element using your mouse. It is very ike Dreamweaver where it would display all the properties for an element graphically. Firebug is very useful for debugging designs and working out how everything fits together. It is also a great way of learning CSS through analysing exisiting designs.

    The second essential web design tool is Dust-me Selectors from Sitepoint. It aim is simple and it works beautifully. It will analyse either a page, or ahole site, and give you a list of CSS styles that are not used anywhere, allowing you to remove them and optimise your site. We all do it, play around with CSS styling till it is just right. This tool will help you remove any unwanted styles left in there after development, or if you are inheriting a site from someone else, clean up their code.
